My topic proposal is "Will Accounting still be a needed career in 5 or 10 years?"
My topic is not something that is possible to keep localized to only Colorado or even to just the U.S. The topic of accounting and it's future is a larger issue, it's a global issue. In this day the big deal is in Cloud Accounting, which is basically virtual CFO services, virtual bookkeeping, and other titles. When you think of visiting your accountant nowadays it is rarely that you drive to an office building and go into an office. More often now an appointment with your Accountant will be in a Zoom style virtual meeting, Skype, or via telephone. Most accountants are doing work for clients in other cities, states, and even countries from where they actually live. The source of my information is from Hubdoc Blog, "5 trends that will change accounting forever," content.hubdoc.com/hubdoc-blog/5-trends-that-will-change-accounting-forever. This article touches on the concept of automation of accounting and cloud accounting. According to columnist Hedy Trinz, "Cloud accounting and accounting automation are pushing the industry in new and exciting directions." The new trend in accounting is changing and becoming something very new and different from your parent's accountants. The changes this new type of accounting are bringing to customers and accountants, or advisors as they are being called now, are life and business altering. The advisor-client relationship is much larger it used to be with the advisor being more of a business consultant than just looking at receipts, income statements, and balance sheets. The ability to specialize in specific areas of accounting is now easier because Cloud Accounting reaches all around the globe. Some of the bigger questions are where will all this change lead to in 10 years? I am curious to see what is coming in the future and how much more change is coming? I am still interested to know if these changes will eventually make bookkeeping obsolete in time? Will future accountants have to decide to pursue legal accounting, tax accounting, or corporate accounting specifics or will there still be a large variety of specialties in ten years or more?

I like the layout of your blog but the background sometimes makes the text challenging to read. A question I have is how might these changes diversify and or simplify the field of accounting?
ReplyDeleteHonestly the changes are meant to automate the field of accounting to take away the tasks that can be automated such as data entry, lower keying errors by less manual entry, and make the role of accountant more of an advisor and trusted person to help identify issues, problems, and catch things most people wouldn't realize if they aren't looking specifically at financials and the business overall.
